1GL

A first-generation programming language is a machine-level programming language.

1NF

First Normal Form, is a property of a relation in a relational database. A relation is in first normal form if and only if the domain of each attribute contains only atomic values, and the value of each attribute contains only a single value from that domain.

2FA

Two-Factor Authentication. The use of two different components to verify a user’s claimed identity. Also known as multi-factor authentication.

2GL

Second-generation programming language is a generational way to categorize assembly languages.

2NF

Second Normal Form is a normal form used in database normalization.

3-D

Three Dimension or Three Dimensional, describes an image that provides the perception of depth.

3-D Web Browser

A browser that allows the viewer to view and interact with six Web pages at a time by creating a virtual room on the viewer's screen. Instead of opening six Web pages, minimizing your screen and toggling back and forth between pages, imagine you are standing inside a six-sided cube and each side of the cube is displaying a Web page.  Links on all the pages are active, so you can click from page to page and change the "walls" of your virtual Web room. If you see something that catches your interest, you can use the zoom feature to enlarge the "wall" so that it becomes a traditional page viewed on your flat screen.

An example of a 3-D web browser is Cubic Eye.

3G

Third generation mobile phone network.

3GL

Third-generation programming language is a high-level computer programming language that tends to be more machine-independent and programmer-friendly than the machine code of the first-generation and assembly languages of the second-generation.

3GPP

3rd Generation Partnership Project, is a group of telecommunications organizations that was formed to design the standards for a global 3G wireless communications network.

3NF

Third Normal Form, is a database schema design approach for relational databases which uses normalizing principles to reduce the duplication of data, avoid data anomalies, ensure referential integrity, and simplify data management.

4G

4G is the fourth generation of broadband mobile phone / cellular network technology.

4GL

Fourth-generation computer programming language, are closer to human language than other high-level languages and are accessible to people without formal training as programmers. They allow multiple common operations to be performed with a single programmer-entered command.

5G

5G is the fifth generation of broadband mobile phone / cellular network technology.

5GL

Fifth-generation programming language, is any programming language based on problem-solving using constraints given to the program, rather than using an algorithm written by a programmer.

24/7

Used to describe a service, such as computer server monitoring or helpdesk. Means that it is available 24 hours of the day, 7 days a week.

24x7

The IEEE standard that specifies a network that uses Ethernet technology and a CSMA/CD network access method.

802.4

The IEEE Token Bus standard.

802.5

The IEEE Token Ring standard.

802.11

The IEEE standard for implementing wireless technologies.

802.16

The IEEE standards for broadband wireless communications for MANs.
